Ari Eastman is an interdisciplinary artist whose work explores the intersections of physical and digital experiences, focusing on identity as expressed through form. Eastman employs distinctive iconography and visual iterations to incorporate elements of popular culture, design, technology, fine arts, and community engagement. This approach bridges various artistic expressions and facilitates meaningful discourse. Eastman is actively involved in the arts community in Louisville and advocates for community-led activism, articulating lived experiences as an artist and lifelong learner.
A central aspect of Eastman's philosophy is the concept of "visual voice," which represents a multifaceted creative output that amplifies the diverse experiences of marginalized communities. Eastman transforms everyday observations and lived experiences into various art forms, including drawing, digital graphics, photography, sculpture, installation, and social media engagement, aiming to amplify these voices and promote understanding.
Eastman's work has received recognition, including the Honors Scholar Award from Bellarmine University, the “Love Always Wins” Jason Noble Award, and participation in the TED Democracy Project. Recent collaborations include significant engagements with TEDx and SJP (Student Justice for Palestine), as well as partnerships with musicians and artists under YOUNG WAR ON TERROR Records, leading to ongoing projects and exhibitions. Eastman continues to evolve in their artistic journey, focusing on enhancing their voice while amplifying the narratives and experiences of others, contributing to the contemporary art community, and fostering future dialogues.
